This is the part of us looking for the Wardrobe. The Portal. The Secret Door.
The hard part is that while we can and do find it sometimes, we can’t stay There.
And as we know if we pay attention to the stories, the door usually doesn’t work the same way twice – or even at all.
So we inevitably have to come back and be Here, which is always sadder and harder than There, and sometimes we have to stay Here for much longer stretches than we’d like to.
Figuring out how to live this way without being catastrophically depressed, addicted, enmeshed, or just numb is perhaps a tad more challenging than it appears – but it is doable!
I’ve been on this journey most of my life, and I work with a LOT of part-Mermaid humans, and I’ve found some really effective ways to have a different relationship with your own Mermaid.
We’re going to spend five weeks teasing this part of you into the light where we can see how it operates in you and in your life,
and learn how to shift that into much, much more constructive and healthy shapes for your precise personal nature.
The Mermaid isn't bad or innately destructive. It just doesn't value the human world very much, and that causes a lot of heartache.

The Mermaid only wants one thing – to dissolve. To merge. To go to that “magic place” where nothing hurts and nothing takes effort.
Where we are never lonely, never misunderstood, finally having our yearning met.
I’ll be honest – the yearning never completely goes away.
But we can learn how to not let it swallow us or make this embodied life a misery, because if we’re going to stay here, that’s a rough way to go about it.
(If this is making you twitch, please know I understand – I don’t love it either.)
We need to give our Mermaid time to disappear under the waves, to get fed by that loss of “individual selfness” for awhile…
…and we need to be able to COME BACK. And be OK to be here, bittersweet as it is.
This is an absolutely doable thing. And I want to help you learn to do it better.
Remember that while the Mermaid can be very dangerous if it’s not handled well, because it doesn’t care about your body, your bank account, your relationships…
…it is also a direct portal to a sense of oneness and bliss, a kind of ecstatic connection to All That Is.
It is one of the oldest and most intimate sources of inspiration, both creative and spiritual (if those are even separate things), in all of human existence.
The Mermaid is the part of us that can experience what I call the “shimmer” – and I don’t think ANY of us want to live without that.
So we need to learn to live in a way that honors the Mermaid deeply, WITHOUT letting it drown and destroy the rest of us and our embodied lives.
That’s what we will focus on.

There are two ways to be in this Adventure -
Practicum and Auditorium
One is to bravely let yourself have a 45-50 minute conversation with me about YOUR specific Mermaid, in YOUR chart. This is the Practicum seat and it’s $240. You will absolutely need to be live for your Practicum, although you can get the recordings for all other calls, if that’s what works best. (We schedule the Practicums for whichever call spot you prefer before the course begins.)
So make sure that for the first half or second half of ONE of the five calls, you can be live with me, and that you’re willing to discuss what might be some fairly raw stuff in front of the group (and have it recorded, though it will ONLY go to this group of folks.) You never need to say anything you don’t want to – there’s no forcing, and I do my best to be very sensitive to people’s responses so I honor your capacity. But your willingness to do this is a great deal of what helps everyone else who gets to witness you.
The other way is to be on the calls and in the Facebook group, but NOT have a focus session, and that’s the Auditorium seat for $60. You get to be part of the witnessing, and you can ask questions or make comments in the call Q&A or in the group. You get to see the specifics of your Mermaid in the class matrix lists, and learn a great deal about your Mermaid (and those of others you know) from listening to the Practicum calls. You just don’t get the personal focus on your own chart.
The course runs 5 Thursdays, Aug 25 and Sep 1, 8, 15 and 22.
We have a Day group (11am-1pm Pacific) and an Evening group (5:30pm-7:30pm Pacific) so there should be a time that can work for everyone. Anyone, in either type of seat, can be on any call you like – the only requirement is that you MUST be live for your Practicum seat if you have one, based on the schedule we work out before the course begins.
All calls are recorded and posted in a private download folder for the group within 48 hours, and there is a Facebook group for offline questions, comments, connection, and sharing that all students will have access to (though it’s not required.)
